Walking the path from struggle to strength
I asked my clients to write a few words of feedback, advice or encouragement for people thinking about whether to start CBT, as they are the experts from experience. I’m sure you’ll be inspired about possibilities for change, when you read how far others have come! I hope it also gives you a more detailed sense of how I could help you on your life journey, from those who have walked the path from struggle to strength themselves. There are no identifying details, not even first names or initials, as, to me, it‘s of utmost importance to protect peoples’ total confidentiality.
Overcoming worry and difficulty sleeping
After years and years of anxiety, worry, difficulty sleeping and feeling so down about everything, I feel unbelievably different – my life has totally changed, my quality of sleep is so much better, my relationship to my mind is so much better and I feel genuinely happy about who I am as a person, now that I’ve learnt how to handle worry. I’ve enjoyed our teamwork so much – it’s been unexpectedly fun, creative, playful and often hilarious! That in itself has been an enormous help in learning to lighten up, not because I think I have to, but because I really know I can allow myself ease up on being so serious and preoccupied!!”
I’d love to just keep on coming to see you, Eleanor, because the sessions have been so fantastic and engaging! But thanks to you, I now feel really stable and much more secure, as I now have the tools to be my own therapist, coach, and “best mate”, whether that’s during the day or last thing at night. I know I have the ability to keep on handling my mind by myself, and that in itself is a huge relief. I’m going to keep recommending you to other people as I think everyone could benefit from CBT! An enormous thank you Eleanor!”
I would highly recommend CBT for anyone looking to make real practical changes in an area or certain areas of their life. For me it has been a key investment in myself and my future - and one that is already paying off in a whole range of ways". I started working with Eleanor when I was feeling very low: I was constantly worrying, wasn’t sleeping very well, had poor self-confidence and was feeling pretty depressed. This was as a result of a variety of anxieties and stress, which had built up over many months before I sought help. Thanks to Eleanor, I have found CBT extremely valuable: I am now noticeably much happier, healthier and confident than I was when I first sought help. I was often very hard on myself and have, with her help, learned that I should give the kindness I show to other people to myself.
I feel it is a very positive therapy that has given me some important tools and skills to help me help myself. It’s such a huge relief that I’m now sleeping soundly as it makes everything else much more manageable.”
I finally discovered the real reason to be alive: is to enjoy it!”
